Visit to the Museums and Scientific Collections of Université de Liège
From 1-2 January, Carolin Behrmann and Lee Chichester from Ruhr-Universität Bochum visited colleagues at the UNIC partner university in Liège to meet members of the „21 Plateaus: UNIC University Collections Network“. Thomas Beyer, the coordinator of the Pole muséal, the museums and collections of Université de Liège, and Prof. em. Yves Winkin gave us a tour of the scientific collections, among them the Collections de Médecine vétérinaire and the Aquarium-Muséum. Édith Micha, the director of the Musée Wittert, Prof. Dominique Allart from the Art History Department and Julie Bawin, the director of the Musée en plein air met us at the Musée Wittert for a tour of the museum and gave us valuable insights into their impressive graphic arts collection, with fine examples of drawings and prints from the 15th to 20th century.
We discussed plans for a conference on Gestures & Museums, to take place under participation of „21 Plateaus“ in November at Université de Liège (18-20 Nov 24), and possibilities to collaborate in teaching and student exchanges.
