Viskurse adoleszenter Männlichkeiten im globalen Norden seit 1960
Mit Beginn der 1960er Jahre zeichnen sich insbesondere in West-Europa und den USA emanzipierte, pluralistische und eigenständige Jugendkulturen ab. In Zusammenarbeit von Soziologie und Kunstgeschichte ist es das Ziel, die ‚Viskurse‘ über adoleszente Männlichkeiten seit 1960 und deren Funktion für das Wissen und die Inszenierungen von männlichen Adoleszenzen zu untersuchen. Aus vier miteinander verzahnten Perspektiven entwickelt das Projekt dabei erstmalig eine interdisziplinäre Methodik mit dem Ziel, die Viskursanalyse soziologisch und kunstwissenschaftlich neu zu bestimmen und einzusetzen.
Die vier Perspektiven sind untergliedert in: Themenkomplex 1 „Männlichkeiten in der Jugendsoziologie – Zur Ungleichzeitigkeit von Wissenschaft und Fotografie ab den 1960er Jahren in den USA und Deutschland“, Themenkomplex 2 „Fotografie als Methode in Kunst und Soziologie –Participant Photography und Photovoice als Emanzipationsstrategien männlicher Adoleszenzen?“ Themenkomplex 3, „Sport/Initiation/Vulnerabilität – Fotografie als eine Soziologie adoleszenter Homosozialität“ und Themenkomplex 4 „Intersektionen queerer Adoleszenzen: Männlichkeiten zwischen Sexualisierung und Dis:identifikation in Forschung und Kunst“.
Viscourses of adolescent masculinities in the global North since 1960
Since the 1960s, emancipated, pluralistic and independent youth cultures are on the rise, particularly in Western Europe and the USA. Through a combination of sociological and art historical approaches, we will develop a visual sociology (viscourse) of adolescent masculinities, examine their function in creating knowledge about male adolescence and its visual representation. In four interlocking parts, this project develops an interdisciplinary methodology, which aims to use and realign the method of viscourse analysis. The Sections are divided as follows: Section 1 „Masculinities in the Sociology of Youth – On the Non-simultaneity of Science and Photography from the 1960s onwards in the USA and Germany”, Section 2 „Photography as a method in art and sociology – Participant Photography and Photovoice as emancipation strategies of male adolescence?“, Section 3 „Sport/Initiation/Vulnerability – Photography as a sociology of adolescent homosociality“, and Section 4 „Intersections of queer adolescence: Masculinities between sexualization and dis:identification in research and art“.
